Blue Whale Materials Featured in Ara Partners' 2025 Industrial Decarbonization Report

June 2026 - BWM is proud to contribute as a portfolio spotlight in Ara' Partners’ 2025 Industrial Decarbonization Report, published this month. The report highlights BWM as a model for onshoring lithium-ion battery recycling and demonstrates how domestic processing capacity is critical to securing the critical mineral supply chains that underpin the clean energy transition.

The Ara report — the firm's most comprehensive to date — documents measurable decarbonization progress across 27 portfolio companies, including an estimated two million metric tonnes of CO₂e reduction and over 912,000 metric tonnes of waste mitigation achieved in 2025 alone. BWM's work is cited as a direct contributor to these outcomes. Our Bartlesville facility - operating since August 2025 - is capable of processing 14,000tpa of battery scrap material at an up to 98% recovery rate into Blacksand®.

The report also underscores the broader supply chain imperative driving demand for BWM's services. Of the 34 critical raw materials identified by the European Commission, more than 75% are required for key renewable energy technologies. Domestic recycling is one of the most direct levers available to reduce dependence on primary mining and geopolitical supply risk — and it is the core of what we do.

We are grateful to the Ara Partners team for the recognition and remain committed to building the recycling infrastructure the energy transition requires.
